Today I went and had a free eye test at John Lewis in Kingston. Yes, you have read this correctly that big shop on the corner of Wood Street in Kingston now has its own Opticians. Having only been there three months, its still so new and with a fantastic layout.
I was so overdue for an eye test, by about 4 years. Naughty of me, as I know how important it is to have a test every 2 years.
When I arrived I was met by Karun who took all my details and did a couple of tests on me. One was to take a photo of the back of my eye. They used Optical Coherence Tomography equipment for a non-invasive imaging test that uses light waves to take cross-section pictures of the retina. The second was to do a pressure test on my eyes with a puff of air. He had to do this a couple of times as I kept closing my eyes. He was so chatty and efficient. I’m one of those woman who would prefer another female to deal with me but he really put me at ease.
The next stage was to see the Optometrist, Zahra. She was so professional and lovely at the same time. She explained all the processes to me and let me interrupt her loads of times with my questions. The testing room has brand new state of the art equipment in a light airy room.
The whole Opticians was such a friendly place and I was able to try on loads of frames with Amanda’s help. They had classic styles to modern ones to designer ones. It’s a big decision to make so I tried a few on but had to rush off for lunch with a friend. From the photo below you can see quite clearly how the different frames can make you look. Some frames suit your type of face others don’t.
I loved the poster they had on display which said, ‘Your eyes are precious, and we’ll help you look after them’. They did as advertised and looked after my eyes in a very friendly and professional environment. The staff were great and I will be telling all to come and visit because don’t be like me and put your testing off, as your eye sight is so important……
So go on book an appointment …………..
